Steps to reproduce empty folders (bug 1567)?

James Crook

I'd perhaps mistakenly thought we had steps to reproduce for folders in
SessionData not being cleared away on windows.

I though the steps were to create two projects (i.e. multiproject in
same Audacity), and close both without saving either, and exit Audacity,
and that the first one closed would still have its files around.
However, that cleans up correctly for me.

Did I misunderstand, or is there actually a steps to reproduce on windows?

Thanks.

The behaviour is cross-platform as far as I know.

1 Launch Audacity.
2 Record, Stop
3 New Project, Record, Stop.
4 Close the project window for Step 3, don't save.
5 The project folder for Step 3 is emptied but left behind. This is exactly
the point where 1567 occurs on Mac, if the project folder acquires
a .DS_Store file at about the time we clear the block files out.

If instead we save at Step 3, its project folder is removed and (now
that we remove the .DS_Store files too) 1567 does not occur.

Ah.  OK.  That is what I get on Windows too.
I presume that if you abort Audacity after step5 (not exiting normally)
the 1567 problem stays?
Weird.

In the case of closing a project, it should be easy to call CleanDir on
projectnnnn (only) to remove its block files AND .DS_Store files AND
folders, so I will have a go at that presently.

If after step 5 I either force quit Audacity or quit it normally, then on
restarting Audacity, bug 1567 does not occur, courtesy of fork and
crash.
